Short answer: The most common erhu grading route in Hong Kong is the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM, Beijing) grade examination, administered locally by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA). It offers grades 1–9 plus a performance level. Tiao's erhu teachers help students prepare for graded exams. For dates, fees and the latest rules, always check the official HKEAA page.
According to the HKEAA's 2026 application guideline, the instrumental exam covers erhu, pipa, yangqin, guzheng, dizi, zhongruan, suona, sheng and liuqin.

If you're aiming high, start theory early.

Tiao offers both group and 1-to-1 erhu lessons; many exam candidates prefer 1-to-1 for focused preparation. Details on the Erhu Lessons page.
